Rivers Re-run: INEC Assures Of Free, Fair Polls,Denies Connivance Allegations

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu has assured of the commission’s readiness to conduct free and fair election in rivers state legislative re-run slated for this Saturday.

Speaking with state house correspondent after the swearing-in of six INEC commissioners by President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa the INEC chairman maintained that the electoral umpire is committed to conducting free and fair polls in Rivers State.

The INEC Chairman also denies allegation of engaging those with partisan interests as returning officers for the rerun election.

The electoral chief says investigation is ongoing to unravel those behind the printing of fake sensitive electoral materials in rivers state.

That was INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu speaking on the commission’s readiness to conduct Rivers re-run election.
