The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, this morning suspended elections in two more local government areas in the Federal and State legislative elections held yesterday across the three senatorial districts of Rivers State.
The suspension, brings the number of Local Government Areas so far suspended to eight.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Aniedi Ikoiwak, who disclosed this in a statement, said the reason for the suspension was related to violence and irregularities.
He said the suspension was to forestall breakdown of law and order or loss of lives and property.
Mr. Ikoiwak added that the commission was at the moment studying the situation in order fifteen local government areas where collations are on going.
