A security guard attached to a shopping complex along Second Ibiwe Road in Benin was found to have been strangled to death in the early hours of today.
The body of the victim was found close to the refuse at the premises.
One of the shops which was apparently forced opened was left ajar, which others at the shopping mall were under lock, obviously as a result of the tragic nature of the incident.
Some relatives of the deceased might guard said they sensed trouble when he failed to attend the early morning prayers at a nearby mosque.
Some shop owners at the mall who were still in shock complained that robbery attack was a regular occurrence in the area and appealed to the police to wake up to their responsibilities.
At the time of this report, some policemen had arrived the scene to commence investigation into the incident.
The Police Public Relatives Officer could not be reached for comment.
