Security: Workshop organized by NSCDC and Steward Resources Ltd held in Benin

Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has said that no society can attain greatness in an environment characterized by security problems, such as kidnapping, armed robbery and political instability.

Governor Oshiomhole made the statement while declaring open a one-day workshop on security, organized by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in collaboration with Stewards Resources Limited.

The governor who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Steven Ideheren commended the organisers for their foresightedness for the initiative which he described as timely.

Comrade Oshiomhole said Nigerians are watching with keen interests the activities and performance of the corps and advised them to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far in their operations.

In a goodwill message to the occasion, the Commandant-General of NSCDS, Doctor Ade Abolurin represented by the Head of Private Guard, Commandant Assistant-General of NSCDC, Nnamdi Nwinyi said private guards have come to stay and assured of necessary assistance.

He advocated advancement in their operations with a view to tackling security problems in the country.

In their various remarks, Edo State Commandant, NSCDC, Pharmacist Chike Ikpeamnowu and the Managing Director of Steward Resources Limited, Doctor Joseph Bamidele said the worship is aimed at creating awareness among security operatives on the need to be security conscious.

They said the workshop will come up with ideas that will improve and ensure effective policing of the state as modern method of security would be taught.

The representative of the Commandant-General of the NSCDC inspected a guard of honour mounted by private security guards.
