Senate Committee On Public Accounts Advises Managing Director FERMA To Resign

The Senate Committee on Public Accounts has advised the Managing Director, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, Mr. Gabriel Amuchi to resign, if he cannot explain the agency’s financial operations.

The advice followed the refusal of Mr. Amuchi to appear before the Committee over summons to explain the agency’s financial operations but was represented by the Director, Finance and Accounts, Mr. Taiwo Oladipo.
The committee condemned the behaviour of the FERMA boss for failure to appear before it, despite two previous invitations sent him to enable him present vital information regarding the agency’s financial operations.
Chairman of the Committee, Senator Ahmed Lawal said the agency only submitted some of the financial documents on Monday, after refusal to submit same on twenty-ninth April and second May.
Senator Lawal explained that the decision to invite him to appear before the committee became imperative in the light of its findings while on an oversight visit to the agency.
