Senate pays tribute to late Mike Akhigbe

The senate has mandated its committee on navy to commiserate with the family, and the people of Edo State on the demise of late Admiral Mike Akhigbe.
Approving the resolution in the committee of the whole, Senate President David Mark described the Late Admiral Akhigbe as a patriotic Nigerian who worked for the peace and unity of the country.
Other lawmakers said the Late Akhigbe will be missed by many.
The senate observed one minute silence and also resolved to immortalize the Late Admiral Mike Okhai Akhigbe.
Also at the plenary, the senate read the letter from President Goodluck Jonathan seeking the appointment of the chairman and full time commissioners for the National Pension Commission, the appointment of the chairman and commissioners of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission NLRC, the confirmation of the chairman and members of the Niger Delta Development Commission as well as request for the confirmation of the appointment of Mfon Akpan as the chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue.
