Senate President, David Mark today swore-in Senator David Umaru for Niger East Senatorial District.
Senator Umaru’s swearing-in was in compliance with the Appeal Court’s judgment that sacked the former occupant of the seat, Senator Shem Nuhu Zagbayi who came in in a bye-election after the death of Senator Dahiru Kutama.
Although, Senator Umaru was supposed to have been sworn-in before now, the just concluded general election contributed to the delay.
Incidentally, Senator Umaru who has less than two months to stay in the Seventh Senate won the March Twenty-Eighth senatorial election on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, for Niger East.
He defeated the incumbent governor Muazu Babangida who contested on the party ticket of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
