Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim has stressed the need for synergy between the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures and the Federal Government.
The call was made when a delegation of the Conference of Speakers led by its chairman, Mr. Inuwa Garba, visited him in his office.
He urged the conference to collaborate with the Federal Government for the development of the nation.
The SGF said one of the objectives of the Nigeria Centenary Celebration is to celebrate the country’s history, heritage and achievements in the last one hundred years.
Senator Anyim urged state governments to identify and participate actively in the celebration and assured the delegation that their request would be given due consideration.
“Earlier, Chairman of the Conference of Speakers, Mr. Inuwa Garba said state legislatures are major stakeholders in the process of entrenching democracy in the country and called for the creation of the office of Special Adviser to Mr. President on State Assembly”.
Mr. Garba urged the Federal Government to include speakers of state houses of assembly in its committees, in addition to being issued diplomatic passport and included on Mr. President’s foreign and state trips.
