Speaker Edo State House Of Assembly, Frabk Okiye Rejects Move Of reps To Shut Down Assembly

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Frank Okiye has rejected the move by the House of Representatives to shut down the Assembly.

In a statement in Benin City today, the Speaker drew the attention of the House of Representatives to a subsisting Court order restraining the Police, the APC and DSS from interfering in the affairs of the Assembly.

Mr. Okiye said Edo State House of Assembly has been going about its activities peacefully and without rancor.

He said the National Assembly must take note that they are expected to act as agents of peace and not merchant of crisis.

While alleging that the report of the House ad-hoc committee that gave rise to the recommendation was biased, Mr. Okiye said any attempt to carry out the order to seal up the State House of Assembly may disrupt the peace that is currently being enjoyed in the state.
