Director-General of the State Security Service, SSS, Mr. Ekpenyong Ita has attributed the success of the security agencies in curtailing the operations of Boko Haram insurgents to advanced technology.
Mr. Ita said this in Abuja at the graduation ceremony of the Executive Intelligence Management Course for forty seven participants at the Institute for Security Studies, Bwari in the FCT.
He said that the service will continue to invest in technology and human capacity development for national security.
The SSS Boss said the service will remain steadfast in its determination to proactively identify and neutralize security threats.
He emphasized the importance of equipping critical organizations in the public and private sectors with appropriate gadgets to manage security related issues effectively.
Mr. Ita said that as part of the human capacity development programme of the agency, twelve members of its staff will soon be sent to the Harvard University for further studies, adding that the training became necessary to empower them for leadership roles.
According to Ita, the SSS has provided training in various spheres of security endeavours for one thousand two hundred and forty eight participants drawn from critical government organisations and various foreign countries in the last three years.
He said that the acquisition of enhanced intellectual capability alone could not result to meaningful achievements without commensurate technical support.
