Some respondents in Benin City have added their voices to the call for the passage of the bill for the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control currently before the National Assembly.
Kingsley Uchegbu reports that the bill among other things is to ensure timely responses to outbreak of diseases.
The bill when passed into law is expected to improve Nigeria’s response to outbreak of disease and upgrade the country’s Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response System.
Respondents who applauded the journey of the bill so far said when passed into law would ensure prevention, detection, control and surveillance for research and other health development programmes.
President Muhammadu Buhari, during the presentation of the 2018 budget also enjoined the National Assembly to quickly pass into law the bill.
Since this year Nigeria has Recorded number of disease outbreaks such as Meningitis, Yellow Fever, Monkey Pox and Lassa fever.
