Stakeholders In Benin Proffer Solution To Boost Agricultural Sector In Edo State

The emphasis on agriculture by Edo state government as one of its cardinal objectives to create employment for majority of Edo people has prompted some stakeholders in Benin City to suggest modalities to be adopted to boost the sector.

Efosa Uwangue reports that the respondents also canvass the need for the upgrading of Colleges of Agriculture in the state.

Though, some of them applauded the move so far taken by the state governor in promoting agriculture in the state, they however called on him to ensure that those already into  subsistence farming should be encouraged.

On the upgrading of Colleges of Agriculture in Edo State, especially that of Iguoriakhi, the respondents comment

Some stakeholders said for the governor to achieve this objective, there should be no favoritism when grants are given to those engaged in large scale farming.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has not hidden his intention on the need to improve the agricultural sector with a view to create employment and the revenue base of the state.
