The Supervising Minister for Education, Chief Nyesome Wike says he will ensure that what late former ASUU President, Professor Festus Iyayi stood for is improved upon.
Chief Wike made the remark when he led a Federal Government delegation on a condolence visit to the family of Professor Iyayi in Benin City.
The acting minister of education arrived Benin Airport at about one o’clock in the afternoon was received by top management of the university of benin led by the vice chancellor, prof. Osayuki oshodin, Edo state Chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih and Senator Odion Ugbesia.
They later departed for the residence of late professor Festus Iyayi.
The minister who said he was directed by President Goodluck jonathan to visit the family recalled his last meeting with professor Iyayi, he said it was unfortunate that his contributions to the growth of education will no longer be there.
He urged the family to take heart as their bread winner has left indelible mark in the sand of time.
Responding, one of prof. Iyayi children, Omole Iyayi thanked the minister for the show of support, adding that his father was loved by all.
The minister who was accompanied on the visit by executive secretary, national universities commission, Prof. Julius Okojie also visited Dr. Ngozi Illoh one of the lecturers who was also involved in the accident at the hospital.
