The torch of class and style created during the traditional marriage ceremony between Doctor Oghomwen Oyinkan Igbinedion and Doctor Oluwafemi Isaac Fakayode will continue to linger on in the memories of all those that were in attendance.
Aigboje Ikhuoria reports that Garden of Eden, venue of the ceremony, numbers one to thirteen, Okada Avenue residence of the bride’s grand Father and Esama of Benin, His excellency Sir, Chief, Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion was adorned with beautiful decorations as it hosted endless list of dignitaries from far and near.
It was a spectacular moment to behold as political big wigs, captains of industries, religious leaders, traditional rulers amongst others converged on the palatial garden of Eden number one to thirteen Okada Avenue, GRA, Benin City, residence of the Esama Benin to witness the joining of Doctor Oghomwen Igbinedion and her heartthrob, Doctor Oluwafemi fakayode as man and wife according to Benin native law and custom.
Vehicular traffic on all access roads leading to the venue of the marriage was heavy as guests struggled to gain access and parking space, while officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil defense Corp, Nigeria police, FRSC and other security agents were on the ground to control traffic and ensure security of guests.
The various car parks were full of exotic cars, a clear indication of the calibre of personalities on the ground.
A well decorated couples’ stand with a pedestrian bridge to access it was the cynosure of all eyes.
Family members, friends and various groups dressed in their different colourful attires known as asoebi gave colour to the event.
Melodious Benin and Yoruba musical piece and dance steps by the different live bands strategically located set the mood for the day.
Some guests and friends of the house of Igbinedion, who include the chairman emeritus DAAR Communications, PLC high Chief Raymond Dokpesi, a Benin base Business mogul, captain hosa Okunbor, immediate past deputy governorship candidate of the PDP in Edo State, John Yakubu amongst others prayed God to continue to bless the union.
Powerful representatives from the palace of the Benin monarch led by Oliha of Benin, Chief Edwewe Oliha were also among special guests on the occasion.
The popular Inneh Theatre Troupe ushered the couple into the reception ground in a very colourful manner to the admiration of guests present.
