Traditional rulers important to unity and development – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan says traditional rulers are important to the unity and development of the country.

He stated this at the public presentation of two books titled: Great Rulers of Northern Nigeria and Great Unforgettable Leaders of Northern Nigeria, authored by Mr. Timothy Ugbaa.

The President, who was represented by the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, said in spite of the differences, the North has contributed immensely to the growth of the country.

President Jonathan said he always look at the northern part of the country as his constituency and urged all the traditional rulers to continue to play their fatherly role.

He described the event as an auspicious one to celebrate statesmanship and promised to get the books for himself and members of his cabinet.

The Guest Speaker at the book presentation, Governor Gabriel Suswan of Benue State, explained that the books highlighted the rich traditional history of the North.
