The governorship election petition tribunal has upheld the victory of Governor Aminu Bello Masari as Governor of Katsina State.
The judgment, which was passed in Abuja this afternoon, dismissed the petitions filed by the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Yakubu Lado challenging the election of the incumbent Governor.
Reports say the judgment triggered celebration in Katsina State, as there was an uproar of joy.
Secretary to Katsina State Government, Mustafa Mohammed Inuwa described the victory as a morale booster toward consolidation of the achievements already being recorded in the state.
A statement by Governor Aminu Bello Masari through his media aid, described the verdict to dismiss the petition filed by the PDP Gubernatorial candidate, Yakubu Lado as a vindication of the electorate’s overwhelming mandate.
He explained that he has always believed that the tribunal would rule in his favour, because all the issues raised in the petition were absolutely baseless.
While thanking the people of Katsina State for giving him their mandate and keeping faith with his government, he assured them that his second term would avail them more dividends of democracy.
